Jonathan Thompson is a full-time researcher in the Modi Lab focusing on areas of urban energy efficiency in developed nations as well as piped water projects in developing nations. As part of the Urban Energy Research Group, he is examining the spatial and temporal relationships of energy demand in urban areas to provide maximum efficiency in energy production and distribution. Jonathan also serves as the research coordinator for the Millennium Villages Project piped water projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, where he provides technical oversight to the planning and construction of clean drinking water systems for rural villages with limited access to potable water.
Jonathan holds a BS in Geology (Stony Brook University, 2003), an MS in Environmental Planning (The Pratt Institute, 2006) and an MS in Environmental Engineering (Columbia University, 2010). He has worked as an environmental engineering consultant in New York City for nearly 8 years, specializing in energy optimization of Wastewater Treatment Plants.
